Who’s Firing summarizes weekly research of companies announcing and rumoring layoffs for the week ended 12-24-10.
For the past week transportation, financial service, energy and retail employers announced the largest layoffs.
This information is intended for business analysts, corporate strategists, marketers, salespeople, investment analysts, financial advisers and others who are interested in companies that are contracting. The information can be valuable to job seekers also, to understand companies that are probably not in growth mode.
Top Layoffs week ended 12-24:
Transportation topped the list, as Woodbridge Transportation announced layoffs of over 1,114 employees while Faneuil cut over 270 tollway workers.
Financial services firm First Niagara cut 230 CT financial service jobs. Energy firm SpectraWatt announced layoffs of 117 workers. Retailer Syms cut just over 100 New Jersey warehouse workers.
